Week Two of CDL Major II Qualifiers starts Friday Afternoon

(Gray News) - The first major of the 2025 Call of Duty League (CDL) season is firmly in the rearview mirror, and all eyes are now on the road to CDL Major II in Allen, Texas. Week one of Major II qualifiers saw several teams at the top of the regular season standings struggle while others in the middle of the pack flourished. The Thieves was the only team in the top three to go undefeated in the first week, while FaZe took a sucker punch from the Surge, and the Royal Ravens only had one map win across their two series.
The Surge, who have lingered at the midpoint of the standings, got through week one unscathed and have started Major II qualifiers on a hot streak. The same can be said for the Breach and RØKKR. But week two of Major II qualifiers is now upon us, and there is an excellent slate of games to keep the battle for tournament seeding alive.
Matches scheduled for Friday, February 21st:
- Minnesota RØKKR vs. Carolina Royal Ravens - 3 PM EST / 2 PM CST / 12 PM PST
- Miami Heretics vs. Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 - 4:30 PM EST / 3:30 PM CST / 1:30 PM PST
- Vegas Falcons vs. Cloud9 New York - 6 PM EST / 5 PM CST / 3 PM PST
Minnesota RØKKR will take on the Carolina Royal Ravens in the first series of the weekend. RØKKR has been solid in Major II qualifiers so far, only dropping one map across their two series. The Royal Ravens, as stated earlier, are the exact opposite. Both teams have yet to face each other this season, and overall, the Royal Ravens have been outperforming RØKKR in tournament play and qualifiers. The Royal Ravens must stop the bleeding in this series, while RØKKR will try to hide the bandages.
The Miami Heretics and the Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 are the next to butt heads. They also have yet to clash this season, and the Heretics' overall performance in tournament play has vastly outclassed the Guerrillas M8. Both teams have 0-1 records so far in Major II qualifiers and had 2-5 records in Major I qualifiers. There’s a chance for the Guerrillas M8 here, but it’s slim.
In Friday’s final series, Cloud9 New York will duke it out with the Vegas Falcons. Cloud9 has been relatively lackluster this season, with their most significant accomplishment being second-round appearances at each tournament. Unfortunately, that sounds like a winning season compared to the Vegas Falcons, who have yet to win a singular series. The most likely outcome is another boost in points for Cloud9, but at this point, it may be fun to bet on the underdog Falcons to break their demoralizing streak.
Matches Scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd:
- Atlanta FaZe vs. Miami Heretics - 3 PM EST / 2 PM CST / 12 PM PST
- Carolina Royal Ravens vs. OpTic Texas - 4:30 PM EST / 3:30 PM CST / 1:30 PM PST
- Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 vs. Vancouver Surge - 6 PM EST / 5 PM CST / 3 PM PST
- Toronto Ultra vs. Boston Breach - 7:30 PM EST / 6:30 PM CST / 4:30 PM PST
The Heretics and Atlanta FaZe start Saturday’s matches. They faced each other in the first round of Minor I, in which FaZe emerged as the victor. FaZe won both Minor I and Major I, but the Heretics also made it to the elimination finals at Major I. Fans should expect a close one in this series.
The Royal Ravens will face OpTic Texas next, and both teams have been navigating a rough patch in play. While the Royal Ravens have only won a single map in Major II qualifiers, OpTic hasn’t even done that. Both teams need to right their ships, so look for a scrappy battle in this matchup.
The Vancouver Surge and the Guerrillas M8 are another duo that have yet to meet this season. Both teams have struggled in tournament play, but the Surge have an edge in the standings. The Surge are also on a hot streak, so the best bet is a Surge victory.
Boston Breach will close out Saturday with a showdown against Toronto Ultra. These teams are also meeting for the first time. Looking at their match records in qualifying this year, both teams are even, so it’s hard to deduce the outcome of this match. It should be a tight race for the 10 CDL points up for grabs.
Matches for Sunday, February 23rd:
- Minnesota RØKKR vs. Vegas Falcons - 3 PM EST / 2 PM CST / 12 PM PST
- Toronto Ultra vs. Los Angeles Thieves - 4:30 PM EST / 3:30 PM CST / 1:30 PM PST
- Cloud9 New York vs. Boston Breach - 6 PM EST / 5 PM CST / 3 PM PST
The Falcons will take on the hot-handed RØKKR in Sunday’s opening series. It’s another opportunity for the Falcons to break through, but until they manage that first win, it’s safer to assume that RØKKR will pad their match record a bit more. But you know what they say about assumptions, so don’t miss the match.
Ultra closes their week with a bout against the Los Angeles Thieves. The Thieves are coming off a second-place finish at Major I, but their match record is also tied with Ultra across qualifiers this season at 7-2. This series should be close, but the team with the most to gain from a win here is Ultra.
The Breach will face Cloud9 to close out week two, and in their only other match this season, Cloud9 emerged victorious. It was a close match that went to map five, so expect a similar outcome in this one.
The official CDL YouTube channel will broadcast this weekend’s matches live. Coverage will start thirty minutes before the first match each day.
