Celebrity hair stylist and entrepreneur John Frieda dies at 75

(CNN) — Celebrity hairstylist and entrepreneur John Frieda has died at the age of 75, according to an announcement shared Tuesday on his salon’s official Instagram account.

The announcement stated that Frieda passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. No details, including a cause of death, were released.

“Mr Frieda’s pioneering spirit and dedication to his craft transformed people’s hair and confidence worldwide; one of the most influential figures in hairdressing, he is a true icon who shaped and inspired culture,” the post said.

Frieda was best known for his namesake line of hair care products, most notably the Frizz Ease collection, which launched in the United States in 1990. He is remembered as an icon across the hair and beauty industry.

Frieda is survived by his wife, four children and two grandchildren.
