According to the report, the man was assisting with cleanup operations when he was killed. MEMA did not provide details on the incident.

Meanwhile, water rescues have taken place in Harrison County, while multiple roads in George, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties remain closed.

In Pearl River County, the dam at Anchor Lake is currently being monitored. According to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, the structure is “functioning as designed.”

“However, there is very little storage capacity remaining and there is additional precipitation predicted,” MEMA wrote. “If that happens, it could quickly overwhelm the spillways and compromise the stricture.”

MDEQ officials are on the way to the scene, while individuals living near the potential inundation site are being notified by the Pearl River County Emergency Management administrator.
