RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Mississippi Commission on Wildlife Fisheries and Parks is dropping restrictions when it comes to using deer feeders to hunt.

This week the Commission voted to remove language in the law, that prevented hunters from hunting within the line of sight of a feeder.
This means hunters can now place feeders out in plain view, and hunt there, as long as they're more than 100 yards away.

Jamey Ray of Van's Sporting goods said,
"There is always been a push from Mississippi it seems like they're adding different laws for the harvesting of deer so I guess they're just adding some more measures to try to do that."

With the law changing, there's a buzz at retailers like Van's sporting goods that this could be an epic hunting season.

Bow hunter Ben Nalty said,
"I think if they think it can help deer populations and things like that I think they wouldn't have moved it forward without having the information they needed personally.  I don't think it will effect what I do, I hunt deer over AG so I've never used bait much."

As expected, hunters are grabbing up all the deer feeders.

Jamey Ray said,
"We had already booked feeders for the year when the word got out, we double booked, doubled the order and hadn't looked back."
