Firefighters assaulted while responding to fatal 3-car crash in Copiah County
COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Multiple firefighters were assaulted and hospitalized while responding to a deadly 3-vehicle crash in Copiah County.
The crash left one person dead, while another person was airlifted to UMMC around 12:40 Sunday morning.
According to Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley, three firefighters were taken to the hospital after being assaulted while responding to the crash on Lilly Road.
No charges have yet been filed and the extent of their injuries has not been released.
18-year-old Ken’Zavion Brown, who was driving a 2013 Ford Mustang, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a second vehicle, a 2018 Infiniti Q50, was taken to Copiah County Medical Center and then airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.
That driver’s condition is unknown.
A third vehicle involved in the wreck was a GMC Yukon. That driver’s condition is also not known.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
