Train crashes into tree in Rankin County
RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) - A train crashed into a tree in Rankin County Sunday night.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey tells WLBT 3 On Your Side that the incident happened east of 204 Gulde Shiloh Road off Highway 80 between Brandon and Pelahatchie.
According to Rankin County EOC Brian Grantham, the train conductor suffered minor injuries and was taken to UMMC. The conductor was the only person on the train.
Grantham says crews are working to clear the tracks.
The incident may be weather-related, with winds causing the tree to fall on the tracks.
