Peters wins javelin bronze, first field medal for a former Bulldog
Anderson Peters won the first medal for a Mississippi State alum since 2000

PARIS (WLBT) - After qualifying for the javelin finals with the second-longest qualifying throw, Mississippi State grad Anderson Peters finished with the third best mark in the final to win bronze for his country of Grenada.
Peters’ throw of 88.54 meters was behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who threw an Olympic-record 92.97 meters, and India’s Neeraj Chopra, who was the only person to beat Peters’ mark in qualifying.
With the bronze medal, Peters is the first former Bulldog to ever medal in a field event. The medal is also the first Olympic medal for a former Bulldog since Jude Monye won gold in the 4x400 meter relay for Nigeria in Sydney in the 2000 Olympics.
