JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Protesters take their opposition of the Attorney General’s decision in the case of one year old Kohen Wiley to her office. Dozens gathered at the Sillers Building requesting that Lynn Fitch and his parents’ questions and meet with them.

One day after what would have been Kohen Wiley’s second birthday the lobby of the Sillers Building echoes with chants for justice. Protestors are calling on Attorney General Lynn Fitch for a meeting about her decision for the officer in the case not to face criminal charges in the one year old’s killing. Fitch says the investigation found use of force was justifiable.

“We want to hear from the attorney general,” said Danielle Holmes with the MS Poor People’s Campaign. “She needs and she owes the Kohen Wiley’s parents an answer as to why she feels a cop killer, racist cop killer that gunned down a one year old is justifiable, especially when he violated all police training”.

“It is a tragic turn of events, but we follow the law,” said Fitch’s Chief of Staff Michelle Williams. “We follow the facts to determine whether or not there is sufficient evidence to bring charges”.

Williams said the attorney general was in Grenada and would be traveling in north MIssissippi. They requested her agenda but were told they need to file a public records request.

Outside civil rights advocates and family members of victims of alleged police violence called for Fitch to be transparent.

“Over and over the denial of justice. This ain’t first in Senatobia,” said Building Bridges Coalition president and founder Marquell Bridges. “We are tired. You will not kill our children. You will not kill our babies. We should have stopped it with Andrew Joseph III. e should have stopped it with Tamir Rice”.

Kohen’s parents Eaveon Williams and Vellesiya Wiley remained silent among supporters. The group pledges to continue asking Fitch to meet with the parents and re-examine the case.
