Jackson State to hold vigil after student killed in shooting
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) — Jackson State University will hold a campus vigil Monday evening to honor and support those affected by the off-campus shooting that claimed the life of a JSU student over the weekend.
The university announced the observance will begin at 6 p.m. Monday on the Administration Tower Lawn at 1400 John R. Lynch St.
JSU said the event is intended as a moment of reflection for students, staff and the campus community following the student’s death.
A deadly nightclub mass shooting left 2 dead and 6 others injured over the weekend at the Hideaway nightclub in Jackson.
The university cancelled classes Monday and Tuesday following the news that one of the victims of the shooting was a JSU student.
