Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten says Wells had been on the run for a week after he cut off his ankle bracelet.

Deputies spotted him Saturday on Auburn Avenue in Natchez, but he fled into the woods.

According to Sheriff Patten, a tip helped the department capture Wells in another wooded area near Sergeant S Prentiss Drive.

Patten says Wells had been living in a tree house two miles away from where he was captured.

He is being charged with failure to register as a sex offender, with more charges pending.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections has placed a hold on Wells for a probation violation.

He is currently being held without bond at the Adams County Jail as he awaits his initial appearance.
