MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A jury found a Memphis man guilty of a 2019 murder of a woman and her infant son.

Enoch Turner was convicted on first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated arson and especially aggravated robbery.

Turner will serve two consecutive life sentences.

Turner killed 32-year-old Heather Cook and 4-month-old Bentley Cook on September 13, 2019.

Cook had pursued legal measured to establish Turner as the father of the child--which was later confirmed.

On the eve of the scheduled paternity test, Turner broke into Cook’s home and stabbed her 100 times.

He then stabbed the infant ten times, set the home on fire and left.

Turner was arrested the same day. He denied killing them but admitted to being at the crime scene, saying he “found them like that.”

“He will never be released from jail,” said Deputy District Attorney Paul Hagerman said. “The family wants everyone to remember that being a mom meant everything to Heather; and even though Bentley only lived four months, everyone could tell that his mom meant everything to him. It has always been our mission to ensure from that date on that Turner never gets out of jail.”

The State originally sought the death penalty, but the family agreed to the terms of two life sentences without parole.
