Allan Henderson, 36, a former Jackson taxi driver who killed his girlfriend, will spend the next 27 years in prison.
In July of 2006, Henderson left the body of Kayla Polk in her car, along with her nine-month-old daughter.
It was hours before Polk's body and her baby were found in front of a Pearl day care center, which was closed for summer break. Amazingly, the little girl survived.
Henderson pleaded guilty to manslaughter and child abandonment, and was sentenced Monday by Judge William Chapman in Rankin County Circuit Court.
"As to count one it will be the order of the court, you be sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department Of Corrections. On count two it will be the order of the court you are sentenced to a term of seven years," said Judge Chapman as he read the verdict.
Judge Chapman ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
