JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Marco D. Taylor, a 40-year-old black male, died Sunday, August 26, 2018, after a shooting at a home early that morning, according to the Jackson Police Department.
Sgt. Roderick Holmes said the incident happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at a residence on West Ridgeway Street.
Officers responded to a call indicating someone had been shot.
Holmes said police found a 36-year-old black male with a gunshot wound to the lower body inside the home.
Investigators found Taylor in the back of the home, dead after being shot at least once in the chest.
The unidentified man injured in the shooting has since been treated for what appears to be a non life-threatening injury.
Witnesses told police that shots were heard behind the residence, then in the front. The gunman, identified only as a man wearing dark clothing, then ran from the scene.
Holmes said detectives have not yet determined a motive in the case.
