LINCOLN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Funeral services for 46-year-old Ferral Burrage and 45-year-old Shelia Burrage drew hundreds to Alexander Junior High in Brookhaven Sunday afternoon.
Lisa Bass says she's been a friend of Shelia and Ferral Burrage for years.
"You wouldn't think that this is the last time that they would be here on earth," said Bass.
Bass went to church with the Burages, but Sunday, she couldn't bring herself to go to church and feel the weight of their absence.
"It's terrible," said Bass. "You just don't expect stuff like this to happen to your family, your loved ones"
Cars lined the street outside Alexander Junior High - hundreds of people, paying their respects to the married couple, so suddenly ripped from the world.

Several of those attending the funeral said even a week after the shooting, they haven't been able to fully process Shelia and Ferral's death.
"It's just a hard tragedy and it hit home. It really did," said Nateska Brown, another family friend.
WLBT and FOX40 learned that Ferral died trying to defend himself and his wife - shooting their attacker in the arm.
"It's just horrific. It's shocking, it's devastating," said Bass.
The couple had five children.
"Y'all will be truly missed," Brown said about the Burrages. "And may God bless each and every one of you that came out to support the family."
