JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason said the man police believe is responsible for Jackson's 57th homicide has been arrested.

Mason said 26-year-old Alex Lee 'Trey' Dixon, III turned himself in around noon Sunday at the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. Dixon is suspected in the murder of 21-year-old Deswaund Bell, who was shot multiple times inside a Shell gas station on November 9.

Mason said, "This is a Jackson Police Department case and will be investigated by that department. We are pleased that Dixon decided to turn himself in to authorities today. We were made aware of an outstanding warrant and this will bring this case to the next phase of the investigation".

Saturday, a 'Stop the Violence' rally was held in response to the violence in the Capitol City.

We will continue to follow this developing story.
