HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Officials say they are taking the hacking of the Hinds County website very seriously.

The website was taken down for several hours on Wednesday.

Sometime overnight the page was infiltrated and changed.

A message on the homepage said it was 'Hacked by Hamzah Uygun/F*** Israel & USA.'

Under that, there was an ominous picture of a gun and a skull posted.

Hinds County Supervisor Robert Graham says they notified the county's IT team and the FBI.

They've also warned the city of Jackson, so they can be vigilant about the situation.

County officials say their informational systems are fully operational again, and were not compromised.
