JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Firearms for sale or buy or trade. Hundreds of people strolled through aisles of weapons, parts and accessories.
Even though hunting season is in full swing, organizers say that has not had an ill-effect on the crowds. Enthusiasts say while technology has changed guns in many ways, basic gun functions have not changed in hundreds of years.
"This is an 1894 and an 1873, still function, still work and both are browning-influenced and, you know, browning still makes guns. But these are Winchester built on browning patents. They probably shoot pretty straight, too, huh? oh, these are accurate guns," said Ray Camp, gun collector.
Technological advancements in firearms include lighter weighing compounds used to construct guns and larger caliber, higher velocity projectiles. Several procedures are in place at gun shows to insure safety. Also, requirements and applicable laws must be met before a gun can be purchased at the show.
