JPD detective charged with child abuse after 1-year-old dies

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - A Jackson police detective has been charged with felony child abuse of a one-year-old child.

Assistant JPD Chief Lee Vance identifies the officer as 36-year-old Natyyo Gray who is assigned to the vice and narcotics unit.

Vance says officers were called to the unversity medical center about 2:40 Sunday afternoon after Aubrey Brown was admitted with abdominal injuries.

Authorities say the child died about  4:30 p.m.

Vance says the charges against Gray could be up-graded pending the outcome of an autopsy.
