CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Residents of the Canton Estates Apartments are facing possible eviction, after appearing in a rap video posted on YouTube.

Nine residents were handed eviction papers after they were identified by managers at the complex. The group "2 Gutta" made the video, which included crowds of residents.

Attorney Damon Stevenson represents the tenants. Stevenson says, "We believe the apartment complex has a problem with the mere fact the video was shot on the premises.  From the contractual agreements we've seen that's not a violation of any lease agreement."   The residents did not break their lease agreements by appearing in the video.

The apartment complex managers would not speak to WLBT.

Members of the rap group say they were just having fun.

The tenants and apartment managers will meet in court for a hearing on the matter on October 25.
