MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The largest Kroger store in Mississippi opened in Madison Saturday morning.
A gathering of local leaders came out for the ribbon cutting for the grocery store on Highway 51 and Hoy Road. The 104,000 square foot store includes a full baby section, including baby clothes and cribs. There's also a coffee bar and sushi bar.
A 54,000 square foot Kroger stood here before, but it was torn down to make way for the bigger store.
"If you look at the design of the building, the financial commitment Kroger has made in this community, they realize Madison is the place to be, the best is yet to come," said Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler.
The new Kroger will employ 250 people.
