CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Clinton Police Department confirms they are investigating allegations against a former church music minister.

Last week, John Langworthy told the congregation at Morrison Heights Baptist Church he previously had sexual indiscretions with younger males more than 20 years ago while serving at a church in Mississippi and one in Texas.

Clinton Police Chief Don Byington tells WLBT they are interviewing a victim who now lives out of state.

The allegations stem from an incident over 20 years ago in their jurisdiction, before Langworthy had joined Morrison Heights.

Langworthy was fired from the Texas church but no charges were ever filed.

Langworthy has resigned from his position at Morrison Heights.

Langworthy also worked for Clinton Public Schools and resigned several months ago.

Chief Byington says the investigation in Clinton is ongoing.
