Councilman protests Clarion-Ledger
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A handful of protestors joined Jackson city councilman Kenneth Stokes in staging a protest against the Clarion-Ledger newspaper Monday.
Reporter Chris Joyner recently reported the ward 3 councilman had been traveling at taxpayers expense with little accountability. The small crowd chanted "stop lying" and "clarion liar" in response to the article.
Stokes reportedly went to a conference in Chicago that cost the city over $2700, but had a hard time remembering being there. Stokes says his trips should not be called into question. He told WLBT he has proof that he was in Chicago and that he traveled to other cities.
The city of Jackson has a travel budget of about $35,000 dollars a year.
