Travers Mackel
Travers Mackel is a general assignment reporter for WLBT News. The New Orleans native came to the station in November 2000 from KTVE, the NBC affiliate in Monroe, Louisiana.
In the last two years Travers duties have taken him around the state...from the coast to the delta. He covered Mississippi's first execution in 15 years at Parchman Prison, the WorldCom financial scandal in Clinton as well as Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili.
He's also done extensive work at the State Capitol covering legislative redistricting and medical malpractice.
Travers is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans where he received a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He was also a member of the baseball team.
The son of a Golf Pro, Travers plays regularly and is an avid sports fan. You can find him at the SuperDome most Sundays during the football season cheering on the Saints.
Travers also has an identical twin brother, Fletcher, who is a sports anchor at WDSU, the NBC affiliate in New Orleans.
