Sydney joined the WTOK team in July of 2021 as the weekend sports anchor and reporter. She moved from Colorado where she went to school at Colorado State University and got her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Communications, Go Rams!
Sydney was born in Detroit, Michigan and before she could walk, she was going to games at the Big House with her dad and completely bought into the University of Michigan die hard fandom with her family. Her family has been season ticket holders for over 20 years, and they make it to every home game throughout the season. Those trips to Ann Arbor, through the heat, the snow, rain, and all were what sparked her love for sports. When her parents and sisters moved to Pueblo, CO her love for sports only grew, as an athlete, playing soccer, and as a fan. But the move didn’t stop them from going to U of M games as her and her sisters still fly back for at least one game every season.
Throughout her time at CSU, she maintained over 10 different jobs/internships including working for the daily shows on Fox Sports. She also interned at KKTV-11 in Colorado Springs, CO where she enhanced her writing, filming and storytelling skills but was also sent out to Broncos training camp and the 4A State Baseball Championship. One of her favorite experiences in her career so far was getting to learn and grow as a storyteller in Atlanta, Georgia with a woman in sports organization, GALvanize. She got to interview a Falcons rookie in an empowering and supportive environment. This inspired Sydney to start the first ever women in sports show at Colorado State University. Stories that aired on the show have won Hearst Journalism Awards and a Society of Professional Journalist Award.
In Sydney’s free time she loves to catch up with family, including talking to her mom three times a day, but she also loves to travel, go to concerts, and get outdoors as much as possible! Sydney is so excited to explore East Mississippi and West Alabama and to dive into SEC football.
