Marsha Thompson

Marsha Thompson is a veteran award-winning 6 p.m. news anchor and reporter at WLBT who is passionate about her work. Her latest assignment is tackling your problems as one of WLBT 3 On Your Side's Investigative Reporters. She has uncovered government waste and shown ordinary citizens how they can tap into millions of unclaimed funds. Among other assignments, she participated in an undercover Internet sex sting operation with law enforcement and the national watchdog group Perverted Justice. She's eager to track down stories that our viewers send via e-mail and by phone. Marsha works in tandem with other 3 On Your Side reporters in the WLBT newsroom to followup on significant issues of interest, from government waste to helping you determine if you live in a flood zone. Over the years, other assignments have ranged from presidential visits to space shuttle launches to legislative stories. Marsha has traveled abroad to Egypt, Russia, and France, bringing home to the viewers stories about upcoming international art exhibits destined for the City of Jackson. Very active in the community, Marsha was recently nominated by the Special Agent in Charge of the Mississippi Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to participate in the 2007 FBI Citizen's Academy. She continues to maintain membership in the Atlanta Press Club, as well as being a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors. Marsha is a 2008 winner of the Director's Community Leadership Award which since 1990 has celebrated those who have made significant contributions to public wellbeing and security. The award is presented annually.  Marsha was presented the award by FBI Director Robert Mueller, III in Washington.  She received the award for her work on the weekly series called, MOST WANTED. March 20, 2009  in a first-of-its-kind ceremony at the FBI national Headquarters in Washington, D.C.,  she and more than 50 civic leaders and humanitarian-minded organizations from across the country were honored for their work.
