Hinds County District Attorney race headed to a runoff
HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - The Hinds County District Attorney’s Race will be headed to a runoff.
The runoff will take place on Dec. 1.
Voters in Hinds County had the choice to cast their vote for Gwen Agho, Greta Mack Harris, Darla Palmer, Marvin Sanders, and Wendy Wilson White to serve as the area’s next district attorney, capping a crowded special election featuring five contenders.
The race was triggered by the abrupt departure of former DA Jody Owens, who resigned after pleading guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy.
Owens’ conviction followed a 2025 FBI investigation into bribery and conspiracy allegations that rocked the local justice system.
Since Owens’ resignation, Brad McCullough has served as interim DA.
