OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - Early Sunday morning, a fight outside a bar led to a vehicle being shot at in downtown Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs Police say around 2:50 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Government Street and Washington Avenue. When they got there, officers found several shell casings in the roadway.

A vehicle involved in the incident drove to Ocean Springs Hospital, believing one person inside may have been struck by gunfire. It was determined that no occupants of the vehicle were injured, although police say the vehicle did show damage consistent with being struck by a bullet.

OSPD says the investigation revealed that an altercation took place at the Salty Peach Bar.

A driver reportedly honked at an unknown person standing in a parking space, which led to a physical altercation, according to OSPD.

OSPD says the driver then returned to his vehicle and left the area, traveling west on Government Street. As the vehicle turned north on Washington Avenue, the occupants reported hearing gunshots and observed another vehicle turning north behind them.

At this time, no arrests have been made. OSPD says detectives are actively reviewing surveillance footage from area businesses and the city’s crime cameras to identify the suspect or suspects involved.

The Ocean Springs Police Department asks anyone with information regarding this incident to contact 228-875-2211 or to submit an anonymous tip to Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers by calling 1-877-787-5898.
