BATESVILLE, Miss (WMC) - A teen was shot and killed last week, the Batesville Police Department confirmed.

Tuesday morning, four suspects were in custody with all four charged with second-degree murder.

The victim was identified as 13-year-old Cazarius Gardner at the corner of Everette and Claude Streets on Sunday, April 13.

The four suspects were El-Tavien Andrews (16), Jabari Byrd (17), Kaderius Frost (20), and Zyion Hughes (15).

Deputy Chief of Police Barry Thompson spoke on the shooting.

“This was not a random incident. The victim was not the intended target. They all set out in a concerted effort that caused the death of Cazarious Gardner, and we will work to have everyone involved charged by the prosecutors.”

Thompson also reports that the shooting was gang-related.
