12-year-old boy accidentally shoots himself in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in Jackson over the weekend.
According to police, the child had been visiting a friend in the 3800 block of Meadow Lane when he reportedly picked up a .380 handgun and shot himself in the knee.
His condition was not life threatening, according to JPD Det. Tommie Brown.
Police recovered the weapon and reported the incident to the Department of Child Protective Services.
