BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) - The body of the Georgia man who went missing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been found, WAFB reported.

Police said Nathan Millard, 42, was found dead Monday around 3:34 a.m. in the 2900 block of Scenic Highway.

Family members confirmed his body was found in a vacant lot.

“For my family, what I really want is just closure to know. Me personally, I want to know what happened. I want to know the details,” said Millard’s oldest son, Landyn.

Landyn says it has been tough, and not knowing for so long was definitely the hardest part.

“When I first heard the news, I was pretty much in shock. It was very hard to comprehend because it just didn’t seem like him. He wouldn’t go; he wouldn’t disappear like that. So, I knew immediately when I heard it and that he was missing, I knew that it was most likely bad,” he said.

Millard was reported missing while on a business trip in Baton Rouge. He was from Walton County, Georgia.

Millard was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Happy’s Irish Pub on Third Street in the downtown area of Baton Rouge.

“I definitely thought that he would be coming back. It’s just not like him at all. He’s not that guy. I mean, even if he would go have fun for a night, maybe, he’s still going to come home. He’s still going to come home to his family. He’s got obligations. He’s a good man,” Landyn said.

Besides the Baton Rouge Police Department, several search crews joined in to try and find Millard. The United Cajun Navy assisted this past weekend.

Texas EquuSearch said law enforcement got a call early Monday morning from someone driving by who smelled a foul odor. When officers went to the vacant lot next to the old Rhodes Funeral Home, they found Millard’s body wrapped in a rug and covered in plastic.

Millard’s cause of death is unknown at this time pending autopsy results, according to officials.

This is an ongoing investigation. Baton Rouge police say they are not ruling anything out at this point in time.

Millard had two sons, was a stepfather to two teenagers and had a 7-year-old daughter.
