WASHINGTON CO., Miss. (WLBT) - McNew Renewables is investing $165 million into a solar project in Washington County.
It will be a 200-megawatt solar facility with an option for additional energy storage.
The facility will be built on existing agricultural land. Upon completion, it is expected to be able to power 40,000 homes in Mississippi.
“We look forward to continuing to work with and support the County and the Economic Alliance to promote additional economic development projects in the area and to being a long-term member of the community,” McNew President and CEO Kevin Casey said.
It’s expected the facility will be operational by 2024.
