Public Works Director ‘optimistic’ about Jackson’s water crisis

Public Works Director Charles Williams gives update on Jackson's water crisis

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Public Works Director Charles Williams updated the city’s water crisis on March 11.

Williams states that majority of the connections in Jackson have their water restored. However, he believes that the “work has not stopped but is just beginning.”

Jackson is still under a boil water notice and will remain until the city has two good days of sampling, according to the health department. Williams is “hopeful” the notice can be lifted sometime next week.

When asked about funding, he said fixing any deficiencies at the plant and looking at the distribution system are top priorities.

“We are not done yet,” said Williams. “You may have gotten your water restored, but now the real work starts.”
