JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Family and friends celebrated Jackson State baseball legend Robert Braddy’s 80th birthday COVID-19 style with a surprise parade outside his residence.
“Former players and friends and my family here and I can’t ask for anything more,” said Braddy. “Certainly didn’t expect all this. Just expected an 80th birthday.”
Braddy is a huge piece of JSU Baseball history, having first served as a pitcher for the Tigers from 1961-64 where he earned an All-SWAC honor.
After his playing days were over, he became the head coach for JSU where he led the Tigers to 842 wins, becoming the winningest coach in SWAC history. Braddy then served as the JSU athletic director from 2006-11.
