JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Even though the brunt of the rain has worked east, lingering showers will remain possible through the rest of our Thursday. Breezy, cloudy, & chilly conditions will also carry into the evening. We’ll wake up in the upper 30s tomorrow morning and only reach the upper 40s as clouds remain in place to wrap up the work week. Sunshine will make a come back for parts of the weekend, mainly on Saturday, but it certainly won’t help temperatures much! We’re forecasting lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s all weekend long! Clouds will increase once again by Sunday & shower chances will pick up overnight, ahead of our second system. This is the system we’ve been talking about all week as there has been the potential for a changeover to wintry precipitation... As we get closer and closer to the weekend, there has been some consistency in the fact that the low moves along the Gulf Coast. This would put us in a position where moisture & cold temperatures could match up, leading to snow in portions of the region. If we do end up seeing wintry weather, the main impacts would be felt Monday. There’s still a lot of time between now and Monday to fine tune potential impacts and amounts, should models continue to suggest all our ingredients come together. Stay tuned for frequent updates as we get closer! Don’t be shocked if we see an inch or more of snow, especially as you work your way out of the metro area north and west. Stay tuned as this forecast is likely to be fine tuned over the coming days.
