JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson police say they have made a second arrest in the I-55 drag racing incident that tied up the interstate for at least an hour.
“He’s being charged with obstruction of traffic on the interstate, reckless driving, and impeding traffic,” said JPD spokesman Sam Brown.
Brown said the suspect’s name was not immediately available, but confirmed he is over 18.
The arrest comes less than a week after videos surfaced showing teens and young adults doing donuts and drag racing along I-55 North in the North Jackson and Fondren area.
Brown said the arrest came about as a result of videos from the incident, which were posted on social media.
The first arrest came the weekend after the incident, following a Jackson Police Department press conference.
Chief James Davis said that individual, a teen, came to the station with his mother to turn himself in.
Meanwhile, JPD had stepped up its traffic detail along the interstate since last Friday and has issued some 300 citations.
