JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - After a pleasant and warm start to this week, slightly cooler air is on the way for Tuesday with sunshine and highs in the 50s. A weak weather system will move in later Wednesday into Thursday delivering showers and maybe a thunderstorm. After this system moves out, much colder air with highs in the 40s will arrive and hang around Friday into this weekend. There will be some sunshine Friday and Saturday, but the next storm system will arrive Sunday. Temperatures will be tricky, but well above freezing for now. Rain is likely Sunday night and Monday and there is the potential for snow to mix with or change over from the rain. We know it’s going to be cold this coming weekend. We also know a storm system is heading our way. The question is how cold will it be? For now, confidence is very high in a cold rain, but this is a forecast to keep checking back on as we go thru this week. We are so far south & temperatures can be tricky down to the exact degree here, it’s a challenge to nail down details far out, but at least one of my eyebrows is half raised. We will keep you posted of course. West wind tonight at 5mph and north at 5mph Tuesday. Average high is 56 and the average low is 35 this time of year. Sunrise is 7:02am and the sunset is 5:10pm.
