MCCOMB, Miss. (WLBT) - A man is being held in Pike County Jail after breaking into a McComb church, according to authorities.

On November 12, Pike County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm at the McComb Gospel Assembly Church on Highway 44 East.

“They arrived to find the front doors of the church busted out,” according to a November 18 post on the sheriff’s Facebook page. “As deputies approached the entrance of the church, a white male suspect exited the building and was immediately detained.”

The sheriff’s department reported that the man, Howard Gregory Miley, 40, had “forced entry through the front doors of the church, then proceed(ed) to rummage through the church building.”

He was charged with burglary of a church and was taken to the Pike County Jail. He was awaiting extradition to Kentucky on a warren, the sheriff’s department stated.
