VICKSBURG, Miss. (WLBT) - Mississippi Department of Transportation crews shut down I-20 in both directions at the Mississippi River bridge Sunday afternoon to make repairs after a crash that happened Sunday morning.
The westbound side of I-20 has now been reopened to traffic. Eastbound lanes are still closed, MDOT estimates they will reopen at 2 a.m. Monday morning.
Michael Flood with MDOT said that crews are fixing issues around the bridge that were caused during an accident.
The crash happened around 10:20 a.m. on I-20 eastbound into Mississippi from Louisiana.
It is reported that a CarMax car hauler lost control, hit an unoccupied service vehicle, and took out a guardrail.
The driver of the car hauler suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
A truss was damaged during the crash and had to be completely removed which shut down the interstate for over 7 hours in both directions leaving some drivers stranded.
