Coronavirus in Mississippi: 61,125 cases, 1,711 deaths reported by health dept.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The number of presumed positive coronavirus cases in Mississippi is now at 61,125.

The Mississippi Department of Health confirmed 572 new cases and 8 new deaths Monday.

So far, 1,711 people have died from COVID-19 in Mississippi.

The number of tests done in the state totals 477,160 as of August 1. This includes MSDH Public Health Laboratory tests and other providers.

An estimated 42,391 people have recovered from the virus.
