SIMPSON CO., Miss. (WLBT) - Law enforcement officers are investigating a double homicide in Simpson County.
Sheriff Paul Mullins said officers were called to the scene of a shooting at a home on Boswell Lofton Road at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Two victims were found dead at the location. Datavion Fairley, 19, and a 17-year-old who has still not been identified.
Jarvis Loftin, 24, was also injured in the shooting and was hospitalized.
Sheriff Paul Mullins said, “We have a vehicle in our custody now that we think was involved that’s what we’re doing now investigators are working on that now to see if that’s the vehicle that maybe one of our suspects were trying to process it as we speak we have a person of interest we do.”
This woman who identified herself as an aunt of the victim said she heard the shooting but would not elaborate. Investigators suspect the victims knew their attackers.
Sheriff Mullins said, “I don’t think the arm suspect is still in the area and it may be more than one suspect we’re trying to anchor that down at this point to see how many people were involved in this. I just wish these people if they were involved to make it easy on yourself and turn yourself in because we’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
Investigators are working to get surveillance video from the nearby Boswell Regional Center hoping to gather more clues to identify those responsible in the killings.
