LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Surgery was required recently to remove a tapeworm from a man’s brain in Austin.

The discovery came after months of headaches.

A red mass can be seen in the brain scan, which is the tapeworm.

Doctors believe the man contracted the tapeworm in Mexico from eating under-cooked pork more than a decade ago.

After surgery, the man is back to work and feeling normal.
