High speed chase through Richland ends in Jackson after suspect spins out

RICHLAND, Miss. (WLBT) - One man is in custody after leading police on a high speed chase through Richland.

Allison Clark with Richland Police said just before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday an officer tried to pull over a truck on Highway 49 south for a stolen tag.

22-year-old Jarrod Moten was behind the wheel of the car and refused to comply. He led police on a chase to Harper Street and then made a U-turn to Highway 49 northbound. From there he drove on to I-20 westbound, where he took the Gallatin Street Exit.

Moten spun out on the exit and ran from his vehicle. Officers were able to capture him quickly.

He is facing several charges including; felony fleeing and eluding an officer, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and disobeying a police officer, possession of marijuana, as well a various traffic violations.

Moten is in custody at the Rankin County Sheriff’s Dept.
