23-year-old dies after being shot at Vicksburg hotel; suspects charges to be upgraded to capital murder

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WLBT) - The 23-year-old victim of a shooting at a Vicksburg hotel has died.

Police were called to the scene last Wednesday at the Days Inn on 90 Warrenton Road.

When authorities arrived, they found Moses Ellis, 23, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He died on Thursday Nov. 7.

Witnesses gave police the description of the vehicle the suspects left in and they were stopped a short time later at the intersection of Washington Street and Morgan Lane.

Three occupants were detained and taken to the police department for questioning.

A gun was recovered from inside the suspect’s vehicle.

Kevin Moore, 19, and Titan Moore, 18, were both charged with one county of attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a stolen firearm. They returned to Vicksburg Municipal Court where their charges were upgraded to capital murder. Bond has been denied for the suspects.

The third suspect is a juvenile and is in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
