JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -🌀 Tropical Storm Barry is roughly 300 miles away. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for our area through this weekend.
A tropical storm watch and storm surge watch are in effect along the Mississippi gulf coast and a hurricane watch is in effect along the Louisiana coast. Barry will make landfall possibly as a hurricane Saturday morning and move northward. It’s exact track will have a big bearing on our forecast this weekend.
Several inches of rain are possible, flash flooding, and tornadoes, but Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 90s again tomorrow, before the weekend gives us temperatures that barely reach the 80s.
Our weather will start to improve Monday and Tuesday. A few showers and thunderstorms this evening and Friday, otherwise partly cloudy skies. Occasional heavy rain, wind and brief tornadoes are possible both Saturday and Sunday. East wind tonight and Friday around 10 mph. Average high is 92 and the average low is 72.
