Fondren continues to open businesses and improve the neighborhood

New business coming to Fondren

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Trustmark Bank in Fondren shows promise for the developing neighborhood.

The facility opened its doors Wednesday near Old Canton Road and Duling Avenue.

Hinds County Trustmark President Ben Aldridge is excited to bring this addition to the Fondren neighborhood.

“We have a community room upstairs and we hope to use that space to engage the broader Fondren community, the municipal city community and the business community as well,” said Aldridge.

He said investing in the local economy is key. “It’s critically important for not just the metro area...but also the state that we invest into our capitol city,” said Aldridge.

One of those investments is right down the road.

Fondren Fitness General manager Terry Sullivan has lived in the area for almost 10 years. “I think Fondren is making huge strides, a lot of new businesses coming into town. We’re very happy and fortunate to be a part of that, part of that growth,” said Sullivan.

While his business is under construction, so is a large hotel off State Street.

The influx of visitors and hopefully residents are what Sullivan believes will help Fondren continue to grow.

“The more people we have here, the better. The more people that are spending money in Fondren and in Jackson, I think it’s always better for our community,” said Sullivan.
