JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Local taco shop, Babalu in Fondren, is hosting a taco shop all day to benefit a local teen cancer patient.
Olivia’s Taco Shop will be open Wednesday and all the money raised from the event will help with her medical expenses.
Babalu will donate $1 from every taco sold today to the family of Olivia Newman, a Clinton teenager who has been battling acute lymphocytic leukemia for the past 14 months.
This donation will apply to any taco sold throughout the day Wednesday from opening to close.
Babalu in Fondren started the annual taco shop event several years ago, and the benefit is now being held at several Babalu locations throughout the Southeast.
A special taco made just for Olivia’s can also be purchased Wednesday. This taco was created by Olivia that includes grilled steak, white rice, sautéed trio color peppers, sautéed onions, queso dip and corn on a warm tortilla. It is being called “Olivia’s taco”
