HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - A Pickens man has been arrested for the shooting death of a 75-year-old woman in Holmes County.
Sheriff Willie March says that 35-year-old Antony Fisher is charged with the murder of 75-year-old Ora Lee Irvin.
Around 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3, a family member called the sheriff’s department after finding Ms. Irvin’s body lying in the backyard of her home on Richard Travis Road.
The niece had come to bring her aunt food and didn’t find her inside. She saw the back door open, a short time later the niece found the aunt outside.
Sheriff March said Ms. Irvin had a wound on the back of her head. Later it was discovered she’d been shot and the bullet exited under her right cheek.
Officials found a 9mm cartridge at the scene near Ms. Irvin’s body. The cartridge was sent to the State Crime Lab.
During the death investigation, officials also found that the suspect, Anthony Fisher, made calls using Ms. Irvin’s cell phone.
On Friday, May 10, officials with the Lexington Police Department served a warrant for Anthony Fisher for a separate crime.
Fisher was wanted for an armed robbery that had occurred in the city. March said Fisher had stolen a gun from a man in Lexington and robbed the man with his own gun.
