LEAKE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Leake Central High School teacher’s aid has been charged with sexual battery of a vulnerable person.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, about two weeks ago, the Superintendent of Education Billy Mack Wilbanks received a complaint of a teacher’s aid possibly having an improper relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Mr. Wilbanks called Sheriff Greg Waggoner and the sheriff’s office opened an investigation which resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Jamie Bailey Pope of Carthage, Mississippi.
Pope is charged with one count of sexual battery of a vulnerable person.
The Leake County Sheriff’s Office has charged Pope with sexual battery of a vulnerable person.
Officers believe the relationship has been ongoing since last July.
