JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Northwest Rankin beat Desoto Central at Smithwills Stadium 7-6 to force a game three in the MHSAA playoffs.
Cougars were down 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd, Carson Chapman sent one to left field for the 2 RBI single to tie the game.
Then with two outs, three balls, no strikes, Cooper Gadman gets hit by the pitch, drawing a walk. Bridley Thomas crosses the plate for the game-winning run.
Thomas said he knew his team would get it done today.
“It was really life changing to be honest with you,” Bridley said. “I thought that was going to be my last game or my last out of my high school career. I went into the game knowing we were going to win.”
Game three will be played Monday at Desoto Central. Winner will face St. Martin for the state title.
