Last original and founding member of The Jackson Southernaires dies

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The only remaining original member of the Jackson Southernaires has died.

According to Malaco Records Luther Jennings, as one of the founding members of the group along with Frank Crisler, began their gospel music careers in the 1940′s.
When Malaco Records started the Gospel Division in 1975 the Jackson Southernaires became the first group they signed.
Another well known member Frank Williams went on to form the Mississippi Mass Choir before his death.
Jennings died Wednesday at UMMC. He was 86 years old. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at The Tabernacle of Praise Church located at 1917 Forest Avenue in Jackson.
